HIGH TEA.

It all begins with an idea. How is that idea produced? It took a lot of pre-planning and inspiration to get me out of my creative block. I created a mood board - off of images I found were creative on Pinterest. I started thinking of colour schemes that meshed with the vibe I was going for; then thought about texture and wardrobe schemes, and propping. Nothing seemed to be working with the vibe and idea I had created in my head. I needed to execute it. After which, I found a location, called the store for permission to take photos there and voilà, that is the story behind this image.

Most ideas just worked after I was able to bounce them off each other. The process isn’t always easy but working towards my ideas and never looking back, keeps me going. I could stay awake all night.

This photograph means a lot to me. It showcases my pride for my culture. Why photograph a women with a tea pot on her head. In Arab cultures and traditions, tea is a warm and hospitable way of treating your guests. So welcome, why don’t you stay a while, Make yourself comfortable, let me grab you a tea.

The imagery was photographed in Downtown Ottawa at a local coffee and pastry shop: Carmelito Cafe on Preston Street, found on Little Italy.
